Andrew Balding's Breakheart comes into this in good heart having not been out of the frame in his last five starts but he has not raced on ground softer than good so far so is hard to back with any confidence, while Hot Prospect has similarly been performing well on fast going and is far from certain to handle the underfoot conditions today. Brushing ran well on soft ground at Pontefarct in April but is 16lb higher now and of more interest may be Mick Easterby's Magaling, who is another that does handle testing ground but is not as poorly treated. Any market support for Pires would be of interest being trained by Tony Martin as it would for David Barron's Sirvino, although more solid claims are held by ITLAAQ, who gets the vote. John Dunlop's gelding has gone up 8lb for his win over course and distance on his reappearance in June but will relish the going and looks worth backing to score again.
