        Verdict

        The shortlist contains Heltornic, Cloudless Dawn and Little Venus, with the vote going to Cloudless Dawn. Heltornic's heavy-ground Lingfield win brings her right into it, although she was very disappointing last time, falling when beaten as an 8/11 chance. The form of Emmasflora's four-length defeat of Martovic in October brings her into things, and Cloudless Dawn's overall form can be rated the equal of the best of these and, having run well when second to a very decent type last time, she comes firmly into the reckoning for us. Common Girl has not done too much wrong in her career, but she has to concede weight to the field. Little Venus showed promise at Wetherby, although Dillay Brook was just ahead of her on that occasion, and My Rosie Ribbons showed improvement last time over two-and-a-half miles and could have more to come but, for today, the vote goes to Cloudless Dawn.
