FANCY MAN was keeping on when second in this grade at Salisbury and finished more than three lengths ahead of Surprise Exhibit. He won over 7f on soft going here on debut and his ability to handle the surface is a major plus. Stablemate River Alwen won over course and distance last month and should also be thereabouts while Desert History has improved with every run and is another who has already won on the track. William Bligh will handle the ground but had his limitations exposed in a listed race last time. Alenquer could be anything after winning his maiden at Newbury with consummate ease and Broxi was third in the Acomb at York so can’t be ignored.
Alenquer (FR) 13-2 (9-5) Slightly slow to stride, held up towards centre, headway to track leader over 2f out, ridden to lead over 1f out, quickened clear final furlong, won at Newbury 7f mdn stks (5) sft in Aug beating Tasfeeq (9-5) by 2 3/4l, 11 ran.
Desert History 9-1 (9-1) In rear, headway over 2f out, ridden inside final 2f, still fifth entering final half furlong, squeezed through tight gap to lead final strides, won cosily, won at Haydock 7f (4) gs in Aug beating A Boy Named Ivy (9-7) by nk, 9 ran.
Fancy Man (IRE) 6-1 (9-1) Prominent, close up when ridden over 2f out, chased leader entering final furlong, kept on but always held close home, 2nd of 7, 1/2l behind Cobh (9-1) at Salisbury 1m lst stks (1) gs in Aug.
River Alwen (IRE) 7-2 (9-5) Disputed early lead, prominent, regained lead 4f out, ridden over 2f out, kept on gamely inside final furlong, won at Haydock 1m stks (5) gs in Aug beating Legend Of Dubai (9-5) by 3/4l, 10 ran.
