stumbled start, prominent, every chance over 2f out, weakened over 1f out
slowly away, always behind
mid-division, pushed along 4f out, weakened and eased over 2f out
prominent, ridden over 3f out, weakened over 2f out
held up in touch, headway over 3f out, soon ridden, stayed on same pace
slowly into stride, always towards rear
held up, headway over 2f out, no extra final furlong
tracked leaders, ridden over 4f out, weakened over 3f out
mid-division, headway over 2f out, led over 1f out, edged left inside final furlong, ran on
slowly away, held up, headway over 2f out, never reached leaders
led, ridden and headed over 1f out, no extra inside final furlong
held up in touch, headway over 4f out, no impression final 2f
always prominent, ridden and every chance over 1f out, not quicken inside final furlong
stumbled start, always towards rear
held up, ridden 3f out, kept on from over 1f out, never dangerous
held up, headway over 3f out, ridden over 2f out, kept on final furlong
Stephano romped home at Redcar two days ago and looks set to go well in a bid to follow up, with Hilltop Rhapsody, Keeper's Lodge, and, possibly, Patrixtoo, Captain Marryat and Miss Inca others to look out for. The Barry Hills-trained selection stepped up on previous efforts to score at Redcar and, given that he will arrive here in very good heart, has to go well from what now seems a very generous mark. Keeper's Lodge made late headway in very testing conditions at Chester last time and looks to have further improvement in him and, along with Patrixtoo, who seemed to show improved form at Yarmouth last time, and Captain Marryat, whose three latest efforts at a mile have all been solid and who now steps up in trip, has to hold claims here. Hilltop Rhapsody could also be of interest as she beat fair type in John Gosden's Liberty Flag at Windsor in July and, although she has not been seen since, is possibly the type to run well fresh. Of the others, Santa Caterina ought to be capable of a lot of improvement but, for the winner, we return to Stephano.
