Another cracking renewal of this prestigious sprint and the contest is as open as the betting suggests. Hoof It tries again to bridge the gap between handicaps and Group 1 company having fallen short over 5f in the Nunthorpe at York, when finishing just behind Kingsgate Native. Mick Easterby's progressive four-year-old will appreciate the extra here, but so will Sir Michael Stoute's enigmatic sprinter who could easily play a part if in the mood. Considering he's best at this trip, Golden Jubilee winner Society Rock ran a cracker over 7f in the Prix Maurice De Gheest last time and had the tough Genki, Wootton Bassett and Dream Ahead behind at Deauville. However, he's been done no favours by the draw here. Delegator looked unlucky behind Dream Ahead in the July Cup and can be forgiven a subsequent poor effort at Goodwood. But he, too, may be inconvenienced by a low draw and has never won in this grade. Elzaam has claims on his best form but BATED BREATH deserves to win a race like this on his efforts this season. He beat Society Rock over C&D in May and was only caught close home by Dream Ahead at Newmarket on unsuitably fast ground. Taken off his feet over 5f at York, this could finally be his chance to shine.
