Marlena is fancied to build on her debut run and she gets the nod over Quick Off The Mark and Misplaced Fortune, while a move for newcomer Bowder Stone would also be interesting. The last named - a son of the mighty Rock Of Gibraltar - makes plenty of appeal on paper and definitely one for future reference. Six furlongs will be his minimum but it would come as no surprise to see him have the speed to cope with this lot if Mark Tompkins has him primed for his debut. Misplaced Fortune has experience on her side and can be expected to have learned plenty from the run. She was very slowly into her stride at Pontefract but picked up in pleasing fashion near the finish. A more accomplished effort can be expected today. Quick Off The Mark drops a furlong in trip after failing to stay seven furlongs at Wolverhampton on debut. That effort did give plenty of hope for the future and the son of Dr Fong is entitled to respect at this level. However, Marlena hails from a yard whose runners usually improve greatly for an outing and, as this Marju filly shaped with good deal of promise at Pontefract a fortnight ago, she just edges the verdict in a really tricky race to get to grips with.
