Verdict

Paymaster In Chief may be able to finish in the money again but Carnaby Haggerston and Cutting Comments appeal as likelier winners with preference for the former whilst the ground remains on the fast side of good. The selection shaped well in competitive maidens before getting off the mark on his handicap bow at Hamilton. He appears to be progressing nicely and can take another step forwards by following up today. Paymaster In Chief produced a career best when third at Leicester and should give another good account of himself here but a bigger threat to the selection may come from Cutting Comments. He will benefit from stepping back up in trip but he has shown all of his best form with cut in the ground and is opposable if the ran fails to fall. Klynch is a contender but pretty exposed now, Fathey has a bit to prove now and Fol Liam needs to make more progress. A tight race with Carnaby Haggerston the call.
