DISTANT SUN and Rothesay Dancer met in a course and distance handicap last time, Wicked Wilma and Mandarin Spirit in another, and the former contest looked strong so it's Distant Sun who is preferred. Linda Perratt saddles three here and our pick looks the best of them, having not been beaten far behind a subsequent winner before taking third here last time with Rothesay Dancer further back in fifth. The six-year-old looked a shade unfortunate that day and has been dropped a pound in the ratings, whilst the fact that Philip Makin returns to the saddle can be seen as a positive as he has won on the horse before. Rothesay Dancer disappointed odds-on backers prior to finishing fifth last time but his record here of four course and distance wins from 17 starts reads well and he's been dropped a further 4lbs, so should at least bridge the gap with our selection. Wicked Wilma was a pretty decisive winner here last time but an 8lb rise seems a little on the steep side and there may not be much between her and Mandarin Spirit on that run, with the latter hampered by Wicked Wilma late on. Both tie in closely with Distant Sun on last season's form and Mandarin Spirit is actually weighted to beat our pick, but on this season's efforts it's Distant Sun who gets the vote, although the market will help.
