A real war of attrition for these milers and a difficult puzzle for the punters. Nimello returned to winning ways at Leicester last time out and having fallen some twenty one pounds since his previous victory, a three pound penalty for that success should not stop him here. He won last year's Lincoln on a similar surface and is given the Teamtalk nod to score again today. His main danger looks to be Thihn. John Spearing's ultra-tough performer doesn't win too often but was far from disgraced when finishing runner up to Dumaran at Epsom and a narrowly beaten fourth to Certain Justice at Newmarket. Island Light has been a frustrating horse to follow but should be more at home on this softer surface. Tony Tie will attempt to run his usual game race but looks easy to oppose over this trip and off his current mark. Of the remainder, recent Doncaster winner, Ridgeway holds sound each-way claims if reproducing his best efforts while Alastair Charlton's Invitation is in good heart and has not been unduly punished for a recent Newmarket success.
