In depth

Verdict

Regent's Secret deserves to get his head in front after a string of consistent efforts but may again have to settle for a minor role behind Magic Sting, who is preferred to Jazz Scene. The last mentioned ran up to his best behind Wing Commander in similar-company at York last time and is entitled to respect on that effort but faces no easy task giving weight away all round. Nanton is closely matched with Mick Channon's gelding on York running but should not reverse form on slightly worse terms today. Ian Semple's horses have been in good form at Ayr this week and a market move for his runner Defi would be of interest. The vote though goes to Magic Sting. Michael Bell's gelding is well treated judged by official BHB ratings and on Windsor form last month he looks the one to beat.
