      Verdict

      FORTIETH AND FIFTH returned to action with a good effort at Ripon last month when finding only one too good in Blades Lad. He finished well clear of the remainder and his experience should give him the edge over the newcomer Moratab, a rare runner at this track for the Varian yard. Star Deal and Bryer should both improve for recent debuts, but Itstooearly is hard to fancy on her debut on the Flat having raced 35 times under different codes without success.
