Final Esteem made a good impression last time and can follow up here under Tom Eaves, with Melvino and Gigs Magic others to consider in the finale. The selection steps back up to 12f after winning over a mile at Pontefract last time, but with that track suiting a runner with stamina, it is a fair bet that he will be able to get home over this much easier track. He is very lightly raced and open to much more improvement and can do so here. Melvino was has won twice over this trip and has nothing to prove to us in that regard, and has won off this sort of mark. However, he has had chances to do so of late and has been unable to take them, so perhaps is just on the wain. Gigs Magic was well beaten at Ripon over this trip last time and possesses more speed than stamina in his breeding. However, he had not been far away over 11f at Yarmouth before that and is not without hope, especially as he was hardly given a chance at Ripon, so he is respected. Nevertheless Final Esteem is improving and he gets the vote.
