towards rear never dangerous
chased leaders, ridden over 2f out, weakened approaching final furlong
slowly into stride, towards rear, ridden halfway, no impression
led, ridden and headed halfway, no extra inside final furlong
prominent until ridden and weakened halfway
close up, led halfway, drew clear final furlong
towards rear, ridden halfway, headway under pressure over 1f out, stayed on well inside final furlong, no chance with winner
slowly into stride, mid-division, effort 2f out, one pace final furlong
in touch, ridden over 2f out, weakened over 1f out
Few of these have a realistic chance in what is a truly dreadful finale, and the lightly-raced Pirlie Hill is just fancied to score ahead of Count Cougar and Winthorpe. The latter is officially rated 68 and probably ran up to his best when second to Ryans Future in a similar race at Catterick, so looks almost certain to at least reach the frame here. Pirlie Hill was a length and a quarter away and reopposes on the same terms here, but that was only the third race for Linda Perratt's filly and she showed good speed that day, so is just fancied to reverse the form over this shorter trip. The only other runner to seriously merit consideration is Count Cougar, who is officially rated 69 and was third at Catterick earlier in the season but has been somewhat disappointing since then. This could easily be a match, then, between Winthorpe and Pirlie Hill, and as the latter certainly has more scope she gets our vote.
