    Verdict

    All four of these make some appeal on pedigree so a market check is advised, but at this stage NAWAASHI is fancied to see off Soraaya, with Dunmore Boy and Not So Bright slightly easier to oppose. Our selection is a daughter of Green Desert, an excellent sire of fast, precocious two-year-olds, out of a mare who is a strong influence for speed. Her trainer Mark Johnston hasn't had a two-year-old winner yet this season but that's only from nine runners and his record with juveniles here at Hamilton over the past five seasons is 18 winners from 53 runners, so the stats help strengthen the case behind this speedily bred filly and we're hopeful she can make a winning debut. The statistical case for Dunmore Boy is almost as strong; Richard Fahey has a 28% percent strike-rate with two-year-olds this year and also has a great record here at Hamilton, whilst the track's stiff finish should suit a colt who is bred to get further being out of a dam who is the half-sister of a French Guineas winner. This horse isn't to be discounted but our feeling is he'll be undone by a lack of speed and a bigger threat to our pick may be Soraaya. Mick Channon's 55,000gns filly is a half-sister to Declaration Of War, a horse who made a winning debut over this trip, and she's out of a dam who has produced a Queen Mary winner. With the yard having a fine record with speedy juvenile fillies she's an interesting contender and could well make a winning debut. Not So Bright was the cheapest of these but there's speed in his pedigree so we shouldn't rule out a bold show, however Nawaashi looks to have excellent claims on paper and is given the vote.
