Verdict

Euxton made a bright start over this trip at Ripon and didn't appear to appreciate dropping to the minimum at Newcastle where he couldn't cope with Soie D'Leau. Second Cut had shown a glimmer of ability before heading to Thirsk for his handicap debut where he ran very well to finish a close third in a big field. ALPHA DELPHINI, a half-brother to Prix de L'Abbaye winner Tangerine Trees, was a 40/1 chance on his reappearance at Doncaster but belied the odds with an excellent run behind Richard Hannon's Crystal Malt. There were entries from some big-name stables involved so the form looks strong and good enough for this. The very speedily-bred Eleuthera could be the fly in the ointment on his debut as he's out of a 6f winner.
