In depth

Verdict

Michael Bell's Magic Sting comes into this in good heart following a win against his own age group at Redcar last time but has more to do against older horses today and preference is for Templet, who can give weight to Claradotnet. The selection is less exposed than most of these and showed that today's ground should pose no problems having run his best race so far on good ground at Hamilton last time when a three-length third behind Golden Empire. Claradotnet is well treated judged by official BHB ratings but has given little sign of encouragement of late. A bigger threat then may come from Saspys Lad, who has been in fair form over hurdles of late and, while disappointing on his return to the level, hails from the in-form yard of Mark Brisbourne. The eight-year-old Kid'z'play has claims on his best but does not win very often and is probably best watched. Howards Dream looks out of his depth in a race that is taken to go to Templet.
