Compton Commander was in danger of boiling over long before the start at Chester last week and his temperament alone would cast a shadow over this follow up bid. He has never looked to be the most straightforward of performers and a watching brief before he is loaded is advised if is to be supported today. Yakimov on the other hand has done nothing but improve all season and has every chance of giving the favourite plenty to think about. However, he would be receiving a lot more weight from Compton Commander if this were a handicap and he will need to be at the top of his game today. Jewel Of India seems to have reached it's pinnacle at present and although he is not without a chance on the terms of the race, he appears to lack a turn of foot when push comes to shove. The Glen is also going to find life tough on these terms so therefore a tentative TEAMtalk vote goes to Zandeed, who had solid form to his name for Ed Dunlop last term. He does need to prove that he still has trained on into his three-year-old campaign, but he comes here as a fresh horse against some rivals that have been on the go for a long time. The booking of Kieren Fallon is also a positive move and Zandeed may just have the edge if the race comes around too soon Compton Commander to be involved in a battle.
