UNCLE TAFFY is difficult to oppose as he attempts a hat-trick. A much improved type, he beat several of theses rivals at Cork before a very impressive success at Ballinrobe and the handicapper hasn't got to him yet. Tear Drops held off a late challenge from Sixteen Forty Two at Tramore and there is little between the pair here while Van Wyck, though seven lengths behind Uncle Taffy at Cork, has since scored at Clonmel and is still on the upgrade. Other threats could come from Cork runner-up Menwaal, though he's since disappointed over a longer trip, and Scottish Reel, just in front of Van Wyck at Cork and well enough in at the revised weights to give a good account of himself. Captain Declan produced his best run to date at Punchestown last month and could snatch a place at a fair price.
