In depth

Verdict

CORMORANT has the edge on official ratings and escapes a penalty by a few days after making a successful reappearance in a Leopardstown Group 3 a year ago when trained by Aidan O'Brien. He ran very well in both subsequent outings and can make a winning start for new connections. His former stable companion Baton Rouge won a Dundalk maiden in March but hasn't made the expected progress while Georgeville has failed to live up to his three-year-old promise, though it wouldn't be a surprise to see him bounce back for new connections. Eaglefield will need to step up markedly from his Leopardstown maiden success.
