An excellent contest in which the three-year-olds face a tough examination against their elders. Richard Hannon fields two of the younger brigade in Tassel and Rebel Magic, with jockey bookings indicating the former is the stable preferred. However, Rebel Magic was an interesting juvenile and should be noted whatever her fate after a 300-day absence. The vote goes to ATHENIAN, a really tough, likable filly who confirmed her wellbeing when just inched out by Spinatrix on reappearance in a competitive Ripon fillies' handicap. Expected to enjoy another good season, she can go one better. Silken Express scored with plenty in hand at Southwell last time and with only five runs under her belt at the age of four could well have significant improvement to offer. This step-up to a sixth furlong for the first time should not be a problem.
