        Verdict

        Canford Cliffs, Frankel and Kingman last year are all recent winners of this and stand out as exceptional even among other Group 1 winning milers. SOLOW may already belong in that exalted company after winning his eighth race in a row and third consecutive Group 1 contest with last month's victory in the Queen Anne at Ascot. Freddie Head's charge is hard to oppose and should confirm latest running with Cougar Mountain, Here Comes When and Night Of Thunder. The latter was below par at Ascot and should make more of race of it here having beaten Arod when winning the Lockinge at Newbury earlier. Last year's Dewhurst winner Belardo ran well for fourth in the Irish Guineas behind Gleneagles last time and looks the only one of the remainder capable of mounting a serious challenge to French raider.
