Verdict

A cracking handicap despite the small field, which could be reduced further with Cardano entered at Newmarket yesterday. COUNTRY has won at Ripon and twice at Redcar, including on his handicap debut when he quickened to the front and was always holding Cardano and Great Prospector in the closing stages. The Haggas gelding has been raised a further 5lb but it will probably need a decent performance to lower his colours. Great Example has won two of his last three and the Godolphin colt can’t be ignored. Le Don De Vie may have found 1m4f a shade too far here last time but still ran well while the step up in trip will suit Pontefract maiden winner Joyful Mission. Harrovian didn’t get much of a run here last time but is now visored.
