SUD PACIFIQUE is expected to improve past Strictly Rhythm in an open maiden. Jeremy Noseda's colt was backed to the exclusion of his rivals at Newcastle but he bumped into a smart one in the form of Sergeant Ablett, a half-brother to Drill Sergeant. He was niggled along from an early stage but responded well and with that experience under his belt he is fancied to improve over this longer trip. Strictly Rhythm seems to be getting the hang of things and was a tad unlucky last time when bumping into a well-regarded newcomer called Matula, whilst Plea improved from first to second runs when fitted with the blinkers last time. Mountain Range may have been put out of his rhythm when beaten here last month as he was involved in some early scrimmaging, whilst Embezzle and Major Domo look like nursery types. Of more interest today is the newcomer Dordogne, a brother to Montrachet, who may gain a bit more precocity from his dam's side, given she won at the age of two.
