Several won on their penultimate starts including Dubawi Prince and Ashington. The latter subsequently found Kasperenko too good at Chelmsford before Brendan Powell’s charge was well beaten at Newbury. Dual novice winner MIDI came up short on his handicap bow but that was in a valuable contest at Ascot and Sir Michael Stoute’s Frankel colt gets another chance in this lesser company.
