This is a very open handicap where a case can be made for half the field but given that CAPE HAWK looks light in the handicap these days and shaped well over course and distance last time we'll side with Richard Hannon's charge at the expense of near miss merchant Effigy and Den's Gift. Nearly back to winning ways at Windsor three starts back the pick has run two solid races at this track since. A further pound has been removed from his load and the softer conditions should help a bold bid. Effigy doesn't have the best berth but has been hammering on the door in recent starts including here last time. He should go well but is up in the weights again. Den's Gift is competitive off this sort of rating and showed that with a good run in defeat last time and he will enjoy the cut in the ground. Northern Spy has held his form well in four runs since easily scoring at Epsom and is only a pound worse off for a second place finish last time but he might just be in need of a reprieve before getting on top again so this time we opt to support Cape Hawk.
