An ultra competitive handicap in which several of the 16 runner should claims including Ettrick Water, Golden Sahara and Pango but the vote goes to Digital, who is taken to gain a deserved success. The selection has been knocking on the door of late and again found only one too good when chasing home Material Witness over course and distance last month. That was on a softer surface than today but Mick Channon's gelding is equally effective on faster ground and, granted luck in running, he looks worth another chance. Pango has obvious claims on recent form but may now be in the grip of the handicapper, while Ettrick Water disappointed at Ascot last time and is difficult to recommend with any confidence as a result. Golden Sahara is less exposed than most and is another with solid claims along with Brian Meehan's Pizazz, although a 10lb rise for the latter's Kempton win leaves him with more to do. Paul Cole's Kool is a consistent performer and warrants respect as does Uhoomagoo, who can never be ruled out in this type of event but Digital is running well and, with a bit of luck in running, may be able to get his head in front.
