In depth
Verdict
Palmetto Point is preferred to Daniel Thomas and Im Ova Ere Dad. The selection was ultimately well held in a higher quality handicap over course and distance a week ago but he didn't run too badly until tiring in the closing stages and that run should have brought him on sufficiently to go close here. He's well drawn and has a promising jockey in the saddle. Im Ova Ere Dad is partnered by one of the more experienced pilots in the race and his jockey's experience may help negate his average draw but he also has a good bit to prove at this trip and isn't obviously well treated. Daniel Thomas has always had his share of ability and has done really well for his new connections. He's well handicapped, has track form and will handle the conditions but he often starts slowly and could give his young pilot a real headache if doing the same again this evening. With that in mind, he's passed over in favour of Palmetto Point.
