led, ridden and pressed 1f out, headed inside final furlong, kept on and no chance with winner
dwelt, tracked leaders in 3rd, pushed along 2f out, no impression from over 1f out, lost 3rd place near finish
slowly away and went badly right start, held up in touch, headway over 2f out, challenged over 1f out, led inside final furlong, stayed on well
dwelt, in rear, pushed along and outpaced 3f out, kept on final furlong, went 3rd near finish
Neither Hats Off nor Fletcher Christian made much of an impression on their respective debuts and newcomer Mrs Brown's Boy makes little appeal on breeding. However Jimmy Elder makes his racecourse debut for last year's winning yard and has an entry in one of the summer's valuable sales races but STRONG CONVICTION is the speculative choice. He's a half-brother to the smart sprinter Rileyskeepingfaith and Mick Channon's Piccolo colt may be up to winning at the first time of asking.
