In depth

Verdict

The Crooner scored narrowly at Leicester last month but the runner-up has subsequently won and a conditional’s allowance helps alleviate a 7lb rise. He’s preferred to Lamanver Bel Ami, who had an off-day at Wincanton attempting to land a hat-trick, but CHEQUE EN BLANC may prove a bigger threat. The latter just missed out at Plumpton recently and can race off a similar mark in what looks a less competitive contest. Cougar's Gold drops back down a grade and slips further down the weights but like the remainder of these have been struggling lately.
