In depth

Verdict

Idris and Priors Dale have both shown ability over fences and have the benefit of experience this season but Only Vintage was easily the best of these over hurdles, is sure to have been well schooled and may be straight enough to win this first time out. The selection failed to win last term from four starts but still showed decent form and a reproduction of hurdles form over these larger obstacles should suffice for Henrietta Knight's gelding. Gary Moore's Idris should be able to win races over fences but would need to improve on all known form to trouble the selection, while Jonjo O'Neill's Johnston's Swallow would want a much softer surface to show his best form. Little Trethew has little to recommend him to backers and of more interest is Emma Lavelle's Priors Dale, who should strip fitter for a couple of recent runs. Only Vintage is probably in a different class to his rivals though and a chance is taken to his fitness.
