LORD GUNNERSLAKE can win again, primarily at the expense of Snark, Geography and My Matilda. Tim Vaughan's gelding has been busy of late, winning three of his last four starts over fences. His canny trainer sticks him over hurdles today off the same mark of 86 and seeing as he wouldn't pick up a penalty if winning this, it is easy to see him following up at Worcester on Sunday. Arctic Ghost looked out of love with life last year and is fitted with a visor on this first run for Phillip Hobbs, Snark shaped with more promise at Uttoxeter last month and he looks to be getting the hang of things, whilst Geography is a course and distance winner and assuming he has not been put off by his Plumpton fall last time out he is respected. Eastwell Smiles needs a market check with Richie McLernon an eye-catching jockey booking whilst My Matilda is 9lb higher than when winning at Plumpton and the mare has more to do. She has no ground concerns, along with Play A Chord who is fitted with blinkers for the first time. Any market move for the David Pipe-trained The Pious Prince must be respected, especially as his profile is one of general disappointment. This isn't straight-forward by any means but Lord Gunnerslake looks the most interesting option.
