The unexposed MANERE BAY has to be of keen interest in a modest handicap but there's no guarantee that she'll prove good enough to get the better of Sendreni and Rubenstar. However, the chance looks worth taking that John Dunlop's filly can improve now handicapping and it could be that the drop back from a mile will be the making of her. Sendreni has a modest strike rate but he hits the crossbar often enough to be rated a major danger in this company. He's relatively unexposed, particularly on grass, and it would be no surprise were he to be well supported. Rubenstar is due to be partnered by Jamie Spencer which would be a boon to his supporters and he's certainly on a workable handicap mark having struggled in a short campaign in 2008. There may also be more to come from Pippbrook Gold who is entitled to improve for his run at the end of February but we'll take a chance with Manere Bay.
