Red Chief was set a stiff task on his debut when contesting a fair event at Ascot and was far from disgraced after staying on steadily from the rear to finish a never nearer fifth. The well bred son of Lahib will appreciate the significant drop in class and will be hard to beat at this level with the benefit of experience. Franksalot is becoming a little exposed but merits respect while Big Bad Bob is entitled to improve having shaped with ability in a Newbury maiden which is working out well.
