In depth

Verdict

History Girl didn't show a great deal in her first season but her breeding suggests she'll prove more effective over this sort of distance this year and she has to go on the short-list in a weak-looking maiden. VIKING STORM showed massive improvement when stepped up to 1m2f at Lingfield last month, however, and is worth a chance to prove he stays this additional quarter-mile. Bad Sir Brian won a Plumpton bumper on fast ground in the autumn but has been a big disappointment over timber, while Bearneen Boy has been well beaten over hurdles and fences here lately and Shalamiyr appears to have fallen out of love with the game.
