Vandenberghe can get recent losses back over Gabor and Ambersong, with Free Style another to consider. Vandenberghe was sent off as favourite at Wolverhampton ten days ago but was putting in all his best work when the race was over, finishing third. Jamie Osborne's gelding, a winner twice over nine furlongs in the past, is worth a try back over a mile and a half as he has performed quite well over the trip in the past. Gabor disappointed at Brighton last time but had earlier won easily over hurdles at Plumpton. That was only in claiming company, but he did it well and appreciated the fast ground, so should not be left out of calculations. Ambersong is not badly treated, gets the trip and handles the ground so should run well, while Free Style has a squeak on bits and pieces of form, notably when second in a ladies race at Brighton in April. A fairly wide-open affair can go to Vandenberghe.
