A chance is taken with Mandarin Sprit, who is in fine form and starts the turf season on a fair mark. Mimic is also in good heart and, along with Red Monarch, can provide the selection with a stern test. Mimic should handle the ground and has almost the best of the draw. She goes well at this track and will be hard to keep out of the frame. Red Monarch has also fared well with the draw and comes here on the back of an improved effort last time out. He returns to turf on a reasonable rating and also has a live chance of at least a place on these terms. However, Mandarin Spirit is just preferred on this occasion. Greg Chung is keeping the five-year-old busy of late and has already reaped a fair return with victories at Lingfield and Wolverhampton from the last couple of months. It will be no surprise to see his All Weather supporters come out in force for him today. As a previous course winner, Mandarin Spirit also knows his way around here very well and, as he can be relied upon to be finishing strongly, he may well have events unfold exactly to his liking this afternoon.
