In depth

Verdict

Half Cocked is heading in the right direction and won by 18 lengths over an extended trip at Fontwell last time. His proven stamina could be an asset if the ground gets churned up and he's preferred to Sedgefield winner Carpincho, who was a little disappointing at Catterick next time. Cotillion was a stayer on the Flat and stepped up on his Newbury debut to finish second at Chepstow while there are also possibilities about December's C&D third Double Whammy and Saffron Lord, who produced his best effort so far when runner-up to Carlicue at Ffos Las. But it will be interesting to see if there is market support for THE CRAFTY CUCKOO, who is related to winners over hurdles and fences and cost connections £36,000 after winning a point-to-point at Durrow around this time last year.
