After winning over slightly shorter here last month, Houi Cherie started favourite for a Carlisle handicap but ran poorly. Martalindy scrambled home in a Huntingdon maiden in October then was beaten in a three-runner race on a return visit a couple of weeks later, though has travelled a long way for this. KALPAGA looked ideally suited by front-running when landing a Hereford handicap and, though hit with an 11lb rise, looks progressive enough to defy the extra. The four-year-old Nikhi, a dual Flat winner, makes her handicap debut over timber from a lowly mark while Lingfield novice winner Jane Du Berlais was facing much stronger opposition when pulled up at Kelso. Phillapa Sue has been struggling from her raised mark after scoring at Hereford in December.
