Point-to-point winner Blazing Tom showed little in a good-quality novice chase at Stratford and now tackles hurdles for the first time. He's probably best watched. Sunset Showdown proved too good for Young Wolf at this track when landing a first success under Rules and should progress again. He receives 7lb from BRAID BLUE but Gordon Elliott's sole runner on the card is preferred. He hacked up in a low-grade Perth novice hurdle last month and had also scored with plenty in hand previously at the Scottish venue. He should prove too good on that evidence, although it worth noting that both step up to 3m for the first time now.
Braid Blue (IRE) 1-7fav (11-4) Tracked leader, led 3 out, clear before last, kept on strongly, won at Perth 2m 4f (4) gd in Jun beating True Romance (11-4) by 13l, 5 ran.
Sunset Showdown (IRE) 9-2 (11-0) Held up in rear, headway when not fluent normal 4 out, led passing omitted last, comfortably, won at Ffos Las 2m 4f (4) gd in Jun beating Young Wolf (11-6) by 2 1/2l, 8 ran.
Blazing Tom 20-1 (10-12) Held up behind, struggling 3 out, soon weakened, tailed off, 5th of 6, dist behind Fidux (11-4) at Stratford 2m 7f (3) gd in Jul.
