In a bumper where we have no form at all to go on we'll take the hint that Alan Swinbank takes these races more seriously than most and side with his NELSON'S CHIEF ahead of Astracad and Alarming Alacrity, however, the market will be informative. As well has his trainer's fabulous record in these races the pick is flat bred, which often helps, and is from a family of winners so just looks the call. Astracad will definitely stay this trip and will make up into a chaser in time but it's not unreasonable to suggest a winning debut can be made. Alarming Alacrity is a half brother to a winning bumper horse who then went on to success over obstacles so can be considered as a likely winner while Mac Beattie and Midnight Opera also have enough in their pedigrees to suggest a challenge. As always the market will aid us but for now Nelson's Chief is the pick.
