Dev has been running well in some good chases this season but now back to his optimum trip off a winning mark SOU'WESTER gets the call while Francis Du Mesnil is also weighted for a challenge. It is true that the pick's recent form figures haven't been great but those performances have been over longer trips and haven't really suited him. His last win came in similar race over distance at Aintree in May and this will be the first time he's returned to this stamina test off a workable rating since. Dev has been coming to hand slowly this season and ran a cracker in defeat in a better race last time. He's up another pound for that but should go really close again. Francis Du Mensil is difficult to judge on his UK debut but looks fairly enough treated on the pick of his Irish form and Norbourne Bandit looks good value for a place off his current mark. This looks a competitive handicap but things seem to be in place for Sou'wester to score.
