In depth

Verdict

An awful contest but something must win and we give the nomination to YOU KNOW BRIDIE, who might just benefit from the assistance of the champion jockey, while Gouranga and Tiger Moss have claims. The selection, like most of these, is an inconsistent sort who acts with cut in the ground and does at least stay well. She ran a decent race in context at Taunton last time when partnered by McCoy and given that he knows her game a bit better the great man might be able to lift her home in front. Gouranga will be relatively popular after finishing runner-up on each of her last two starts. Ideally she would prefer it bottomless and she does keep creeping up the weights for not winning, so she is no good thing. Tiger Moss is taking a while to get the hang of the game and connections are clearly hoping that this step up in trip is the key to better form. She didn't respond to the visor last time at Ayr and it is retained here, so the jury is out. Moya's Charm should enjoy the conditions and the return to this longer trip and she is not without a chance, but You Know Bridie is a tentative pick.
