In depth

Verdict

Rookery Lad, Sunny South East and Sconced are the ones to consider here and Sunny South East is taken to come out on top. Well backed when scoring at Chepstow in November, Rookery Lad was fourth at Fakenham last time and was beaten some distance. That was a lifeless performance and it may be he needs a break and a respite from the handicapper. Richard Guest's runners are going well just now and Sconced should be treated with respect, having run his best race of the season here in December. A reproduction of that effort would see him go close. The grey mare Sunny South East is the one to beat. She was perhaps fortunate to win at Folkestone two outings ago where her principal rival fell when leading, but she has run well here previously and rarely runs a bad race. Sunny South East can bring some brightness to her supporters.
