DOGON has been very highly tried since arriving from France. Though pulled up twice at Cheltenham last season, he was second at Wincanton in between and gives the impression this step up in trip will suit. The Wolf’s second to Dashel Drasher at Newbury in March was a very solid effort so he can’t be ignored, though might have preferred easier ground. It’s difficult to make a case for either Bullsempire or Champagne Vintage.
Bullsempire (IRE) 50-1 (10-12) Towards rear, slow 2nd, not fluent 7th, ridden 4 out, some headway after 3 out, weakened next, 6th of 8, 23l behind Bbold (11-4) at Warwick 2m 5f (4) gf in Sep.
Champagne Vintage (IRE) 150-1 (10-12) Raced on inside, held up, not fluent 1st, behind 8th, tailed off and pulled up before 2 out, at Southwell 3m (4) sft in Oct.
Dogon 14-1 (11-2) Held up in mid-division on outside, not fluent 4th, headway after 5th, weakened after 3 out, blundered 2 out, pulled up before last, at Cheltenham 2m hcp (1) sft in Mar.
The Wolf (FR) 8-1 (11-1) Held up in mid-division, mistake 6th, outpaced after 4 out, headway into 4th after 3 out, kept on run-in, went never nearer 3rd close home, 3rd of 10, 6l behind Dashel Drasher (11-11) at Newbury 2m 5f (3) gs in Mar.
