Brigadier Du Bois is taken to turn the tables on his recent course conqueror Un Autre Espere, with Amadeus and Jolly Boy best of the remainder. Brigadier Du Bois and Un Autre Espere met over hurdles here just over three weeks ago, and it was the latter that came out on top very narrowly to gain his first win over obstacles. As they landed over the last it looked as though today's selection would prevail, but he lost out in a bob of heads. Back over fences today, Lucy Wadham's six-year-old can race off a three-pound lower mark, while Un Autre Espere lines up on 79 again. That should tilt the scales in favour of Brigadier Du Bois, albeit narrowly, and he can gain revenge. Amadeus may find the ground just a bit too lively here but he does at least have winning form over fences, having won twice in novice company last November. Jolly Boy races from two-pounds out of the handicap and has not really caught the eye yet, but the fact that he was sent off favourite on only his second start over fences at Uttoxeter last time, suggests that he has some ability, and any support for the French import should be noted. This should revolve around the first two mentioned though, with Brigadier Du Bois the pick on ratings.
