raced 2nd early, led after 1st and made rest, 4L clear from halfway, ridden further clear 2 out, stayed on well under pressure from last, comfortably
led, slow jump 1st, ran wide off bend on 1st bend and headed, mistake 3rd, niggled along after 4 out, mistake next and dropped to last, soon ridden, trailing in last when eased from 2 out
held up in touch in last, went 2nd 3 out, ridden entering straight, no impression on winner from 2 out, kept on one paced
A shocking turnout for a Grade 2 though that won't concern connections of the three entries. It's hard to know what to make of Gwencily Berbas, who scored on heavy ground at Auteuil in October, especially as his pedigree suggests he should be smart on the Flat. If it comes to a sprint finish he could spring a surprise. Lettre De Cachet scored on the level at Navan in October and began his hurdling career in a Grade 1 at Leopardstown a fortnight ago. He never really got involved though he did finish in front of VERCINGETORIX, who was very disappointing after looking a potential star at Limerick. Gordon Elliott's charge can't have been right that day and is given a quick opportunity to put matters right.
