In depth

Verdict

Elephant John made a belated debut over 7f here last month and ran well behind the potentially-smart Hotrocket. The winner's yard is represented by PLANKTON, who led for a long way over the trip at Naas before swallowed up by De Valera. He can go one better though Mickey The Steel would have no problems winning this if repeating his neck defeat in a Curragh handicap in May but was having his 20th start without winning when disappointing again at Listowel. Hypernova has only ever run at Dundalk but Ballysax Lil' Mick was staying on over the minimum at Bellewstown.
