In depth

Verdict

A decent prize has attracted a strong field headed in the weights by On Eagles Wings, who makes his handicap debut after landing a Grade 3 novices' hurdle at Naas under a fine ride from Harry Swan. Jacksons Gold gained his third victory in seven starts over timber on that same track though wouldn't want any more rain. Fighter Allen makes his handicap debut but has disappointed since his victory at Punchestown in November while Darrens Hope also has her first run in a handicap but has been in excellent form all winter. The latter will relish this stamina test and is greatly respected as is Dunboyne, who was having only his third start over fences when scoring at Thurles. Close behind in that latter event came METICULOUS (NAP), who was having his first start since July and Joseph O'Brien's charge gets the nod in a very competitive handicap in which Folcano, a first-flight faller in the Martin Pipe at Cheltenham, will be bidding for compensation.
