A big field for this handicap hurdle and we will take a chance on WINTERWOOD on his first start for almost 18 months, while Referent is among the dangers. The selection has not been seen since landing a Limerick maiden hurdle for Charlie Swan in May of last year, over a similar trip to this. Good ground suits and a mark of 110 for this handicap debut is not too taxing. Then of course, there is Vaughan's reputation for improving those he takes in from other trainers, and in an open race we will chance him. Referent has joined Philip Hobbs from France since being a beaten favourite in a provinicial hurdle race there in June. He too may improve for the change of scenery and with the yard in form we give him due respect. Blue Express clearly needed the run when making his debut for Evan Williams at Newton Abbot last time, and good or fast ground suits. This trip is also not a problem, so we will look for a return to some sort of form today. Wujood was an eased-down course and distance winner a couple of weeks ago and has gone up 10lbs for that, but should remain very competitive with a feather weight to carry in this, while dual course winner Line Artic is tried over an extended trip again, but has to prove her stamina after two previous flops. This is tougher than the seller won by Tooka at Towcester, but Sagalyrique is an interesting debutant for Alan King, although he has the crushing burden of 11st 12lbs to shoulder and may have to wait for other days. Winterwood is the suggestion here.
