In depth

Verdict

Chilling Place, O'Toole and Cornish Sett are all interesting contenders here with the vote just going to Cornish Sett. Cornish Sett does not lack for breeding - or jumping ability based on his record of four wins from six starts, plus a Grade 3 placing - and he is a very interesting recruit to this game from the Paul Nicholls stable. As such, he gets our vote. The choice of Richard Johnson from the two Philip Hobbs runners, the Supreme Novices' Hurdle-sixth Chilling Place is eyecatching, and he is another talented entry that looks set to run a big race - and he was rated 12 pounds higher over hurdles than the selection. Philip Hobbs also runs O'Toole, who has already won over hurdles this season, but Richard Johnson's preference for his stablemate suggests that he has something to find overall. He, in turn, has Cornish Sett, our selection, to beat.
